Power Bill Facts

Corrections

Power Bill Facts reproduces figures from U.S. Energy Information Administration files and derives averages from them by fixed formulas. Most differences between a page here and a utility's own understanding of its numbers come from the filing itself.

Disputes about a filed figure

Revenue, sales, customer counts, SAIDI, SAIFI and service territories are reported by each utility on Form EIA-861 and Form EIA-861M. A utility that believes its filed figure is wrong can resubmit to EIA; the corrected value appears here at the next build after EIA republishes the file. This site does not alter a filed figure. EIA's survey contacts are listed on the Form EIA-861 page.

Errors introduced by this site

If a figure here does not match the EIA file it cites (a mis-parsed row, a utility attached to the wrong state or county, a wrong ownership class, a broken comparison), write to the address on the contact page with the page URL and the EIA value. Processing errors are fixed in the code and the site is rebuilt. Expect a reply within five working days.

Early-release figures

Each summer EIA publishes an early release of the previous year's Form EIA-861 data and describes it as not fully edited. Those figures appear on a utility's own page, marked "early release", and are replaced when the final file is published. They never enter a state figure, a median or a rank here.

Removal requests

Pages describe organisations that file public federal surveys, so they are not removed on request. If a person's name or any customer-level information ever appears, report the URL: it will be removed immediately and the filter tightened.
