In July 2025, residential customers in Hawaii paid an average of 39.36¢ per kilowatthour, down 8.3% on the same month a year earlier (42.93¢). The US average for the month was 17.45¢; Hawaii was 126% above that. It ranked 1st highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 241,285 MWh, up 6.4% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $211.76 on 538 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
