In July 2025, residential customers in Iowa paid an average of 15.31¢ per kilowatthour, up 2.9% on the same month a year earlier (14.88¢). The US average for the month was 17.45¢; Iowa was 12% below that. It ranked 32nd highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 1,666,033 MWh, up 16.0% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $173.25 on 1,131 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
