In July 2026, residential customers in New Jersey paid an average of 25.19¢ per kilowatthour, little changed on the same month a year earlier (25.32¢). The US average for the month was 18.31¢; New Jersey was 38% above that. It ranked 10th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 3,963,494 MWh, down 7.1% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $261.02 on 1,036 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.

Average price is revenue divided by sales for the sector and year; it is not a tariff rate. Reliability figures are as reported by utilities to EIA on Form 861 and may use different calculation methods. Monthly figures come from the Form EIA-861M sample and are revised when EIA finalises the year.
