In October 2023, residential customers in Alaska paid an average of 24.04¢ per kilowatthour, up 1.6% on the same month a year earlier (23.66¢). The US average for the month was 16.48¢; Alaska was 46% above that. It ranked 8th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 161,055 MWh, up 1.3% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $130.14 on 541 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
