In April 2025, residential customers in Hawaii paid an average of 42.44¢ per kilowatthour, down 6.4% on the same month a year earlier (45.36¢). The US average for the month was 17.55¢; Hawaii was 142% above that. It ranked 1st highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 207,307 MWh, up 6.7% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $196.39 on 463 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
