In March 2025, residential customers in Illinois paid an average of 17.55¢ per kilowatthour, up 10.0% on the same month a year earlier (15.95¢). The US average for the month was 17.09¢; Illinois was about the same as that. It ranked 17th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 3,333,753 MWh, up 9.7% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $109.15 on 622 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
