In July 2025, residential customers in Illinois paid an average of 17.22¢ per kilowatthour, up 13.4% on the same month a year earlier (15.19¢). The US average for the month was 17.45¢; Illinois was about the same as that. It ranked 18th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 5,770,146 MWh, up 14.6% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $184.49 on 1,072 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
