In December 2025, residential customers in Illinois paid an average of 17.07¢ per kilowatthour, up 7.0% on the same month a year earlier (15.96¢). The US average for the month was 17.24¢; Illinois was about the same as that. It ranked 19th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 4,165,174 MWh, up 8.5% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $131.23 on 769 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
