In January 2025, residential customers in Maine paid an average of 26.13¢ per kilowatthour, down 4.6% on the same month a year earlier (27.39¢). The US average for the month was 15.94¢; Maine was 64% above that. It ranked 6th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 463,639 MWh, down 1.7% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $160.33 on 614 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
