In July 2026, residential customers in Maine paid an average of 32.41¢ per kilowatthour, up 15.8% on the same month a year earlier (27.98¢). The US average for the month was 18.31¢; Maine was 77% above that. It ranked 3rd highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 336,146 MWh, down 12.9% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $142.80 on 441 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
