In July 2026, residential customers in New York paid an average of 29.90¢ per kilowatthour, up 14.0% on the same month a year earlier (26.22¢). The US average for the month was 18.31¢; New York was 63% above that. It ranked 5th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 5,893,708 MWh, down 5.3% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $234.29 on 784 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
