In September 2022, residential customers in Virginia paid an average of 14.58¢ per kilowatthour, up 18.2% on the same month a year earlier (12.33¢). The US average for the month was 16.19¢; Virginia was 9.9% below that. It ranked 25th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 3,422,427 MWh, down 7.9% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $138.90 on 953 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
