In July 2026, residential customers in Virginia paid an average of 17.55¢ per kilowatthour, up 11.2% on the same month a year earlier (15.78¢). The US average for the month was 18.31¢; Virginia was 4.2% below that. It ranked 20th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 4,841,454 MWh, down 4.3% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $228.05 on 1,299 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
