Households in Minnesota paid an average of 15.45¢ per kilowatthour for electricity in 2024, 6.3% below the US average of 16.48¢. That ranks 20th highest of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

In July 2026, the latest month EIA has published, the residential average was 17.45¢, up 3.1% on July 2025; the US figure for the month was 18.31¢. Monthly figures are preliminary until EIA finalises the year.
46 respondents reported residential customers in Minnesota on the full Form EIA-861 for 2024, and 124 smaller utilities filed the short form, which has no residential breakdown. Investor-owned utilities account for 60.4% of the residential customers reported.
