In September 2025, residential customers in New York paid an average of 27.23¢ per kilowatthour, up 8.7% on the same month a year earlier (25.05¢). The US average for the month was 18.08¢; New York was 51% above that. It ranked 8th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 4,177,883 MWh, down 3.8% on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $152.44 on 560 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
