In August 2025, residential customers in New York paid an average of 26.67¢ per kilowatthour, up 5.8% on the same month a year earlier (25.20¢). The US average for the month was 17.61¢; New York was 51% above that. It ranked 7th highest among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Residential sales were 5,612,874 MWh, little changed on a year earlier, and the average residential bill for the month was $200.94 on 753 kWh. Weather moves monthly sales far more than prices do, so bills swing with the season.
